Podcast Episode 67 – 2017 WDW Marathon Weekend Recap

2017 WDW Marathon Weekend RecapIn this episode we invite first time Dopey Challenge finishers Doug and Laura Bailey to help us with our 2017 WDW??Marathon Weekend Recap. We discuss day one of the expo, Doug and Laura’s approach and review of the 5k and 10k, the unexpected cancellation of the Walt Disney World Half Marathon and Sunday’s Walt Disney World Marathon, with details of Brittany and Caryn dropping their pants.

We had hoped to get a better sense of whether runDisney had made some improvements to on course entertainment, but with the cancellation of the half marathon and the extreme cold of the full marathon, it’s hard to say whether the entertainment that actually made it onto the course was all that was planned or if there were last-minute changes.

We also get details of when and where (probably) Brittany lost her car keys, resulting in an extra day at Walt Disney World while she waited for the overnight delivery of replacements.

We also provide a brief preview of the Star Wars Light Side Half Marathon Weekend taking place at Disneyland in Anaheim, with a live report from California by Mark.

The cancellation of the Half Marathon has left a lot of??Goofy and Dopey Challenge runners eager to return in 2018 for the full race experience. Early registration for the 2018 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend for Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Passholders is Thursday, February 9th, with general registration available starting Tuesday, February 14th.
